Dog Behavior Consultations

Private Dog Training

Private, in-home training and behavior counseling services available throughout the Twin Cities (Minneapolis/Saint Paul Metro) as well as the surrounding areas.

Some behavior concerns are too involved and/or serious to be dealt with in an obedience class setting. In such cases private, in-home consultations and training allow for a much more thorough and complete approach to rehabilitating problem behaviors. I have extensive education and experience in working with behavioral and emotional concerns such as…

  • Aggression directed at people/children
  • Dog on dog aggression
  • On leash aggression
  • Resource guarding of food, stolen items, toys, places…
  • Separation anxiety
  • Storm anxiety
  • General anxiety
  • Crate/kennel anxiety
  • Not able to settle/relax/hyper activity
  • Nuisance barking
  • Fear of people, places, new situations…
  • Chewing and destructive behaviors
  • House soiling issues
  • Potentially dangerous & dangerous dogs (by citation)
  • Or a number of other behavioral problems,

I recommend owners contact a canine behavior specialist to schedule an appointment.

In-Home Consultation

When working with dog owners, each client and case is met with individualized attention and concern. Consultations are conducted at the client’s home. This allows for a greater opportunity for a thorough assessment of the concerning behavior(s) and the contributing factors. Each case is met with a comprehensive assessment and is then guided through a detailed, individualized behavior retraining program.

Emphasis is first placed on educating the dog owner in a better understanding of the behavior problem, and better teaching and management skills. I then take these skills and teach you how to successfully apply them to your dog’s retraining program. Equal emphasis is placed upon empowering both the owner and the dog with the skills and tools that they need to succeed.

Clients may also be encouraged to enroll in an obedience class in order to continue building on their dog’s behavior training program and reliability in social settings.

On average a behavior consultation takes two hours to complete, but could be shorter or longer depending on the complexity of the dog’s behavior concerns. Clients are given continual and unlimited support as they progress through a behavior retraining program. This is done through phone and/or e-mail conversations at no additional charge.

I have over 30 years of training experience and continued education working with behavior and temperament/emotional concerns. I have studied with many top dog and animal trainers, animal behaviorists and veterinarian behaviorists and veterinarians  in the US, Canada, The United Kingdom and from around the world. I have also attended  many classes through the Life Learn Program at the Ontario Veterinary Collage, University at Guelph, Ontario, Canada. Today I still continues to attend classes, clinics and workshops to ensure I stays attentive to the most current knowledge in the science of behavior and teaching.
